Painting flowers can be quite a daunting process. With ArtFlock’s Floral Series Workshop, you will discover the possibilities, adding in your own artistic flair and style with our friendly instructors giving you the best tips to create your floral masterpiece. Participants will learn to create 2 different styles of floral painting; basic brush techniques and expressive abstract using palette knife.
SESSION 1: PEONY (BRUSH PAINTING TECHNIQUES)
Workshop details
Workshop Objectives
  • Learn to paint from observation of shapes, colours, light and textures
  • Explore colour mixing and layering of paints to build up flower structure
  • Explore underpainting, dark to light to create depth in artwork

SESSION 2: EXPRESSIVE ABSTRACT FLOWER FIELD (PALETTE KNIFE PAINTING TECHNIQUES)

Explore the endless creative possibilities to paint a seascape with ArtFlock’s Seascape Series Workshop.  You will be exposed to various techniques as well as the best tips and tricks to create a detailed or an abstract masterpiece. Participants will learn to create 2 different styles of seascape painting; brush painting and pour painting.

​ACRYLIC PAINTING - Course Details
​Course Overview
​
In this course, participants will develop an understanding of the characteristics of acrylic paint, and effective application of the medium to achieve various visual effects on a landscape or still life objects painting.
​

For the first two weeks, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of acrylic painting. They will study the colour wheel and understand its importance, also learn to see colours as values because it is an important aspect of creating depth and contrast in every art pieces. They will explore different techniques of acrylic blending using brushes, wet and dry painting, and various application of acrylic to create visual textures.

After the completion of the fundamentals class, participants will join the open space sessions where they will be guided to paint a subject of their choice, at their own pace for the other four sessions. Participants who wish to extend their sessions, may sign up for another package or a one-off session.


Duration - 6 Weeks x 2 Hours
2 Weeks Fundamentals:
October: 13th & 20th (10am - 12pm)
November: 2nd & 9th (10am -12pm)
Open Space Sessions:
Thursday & Friday: 5pm - 9pm 
Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 1pm, 2pm - 5pm
*Participants are required to book their sessions in advance

FAQs

1.  What is the student - teacher ratio?
  • There will be 1 instructor to 4 students.

2.  What do I need to bring for class?
  • No worries, all materials will be provided!

3.  Can I bring my own materials and tools?
  • Yes you may! However, please inform us in advance if you would like to bring your own art materials and tools. It will be subjected to approval. 
 
4.  Do I require prior art training, to be able to sign up for this course?
  • We have different levels for the courses. You do not need any prior art training if you are attending the level 1 courses. However, there are pre-requisites for the level 2 courses and above.
 
5.  Can my friends sit-in during the class?
  • Only ArtFlock students can attend our classes. However, we do have a Waiting Area and there are TONS of Cafes & Restaurants around the area for your friends to hang around!
 
6.  Can I collect my artwork another day, if I am unable to bring it back after class?
  • Yes you may, but you have to collect it 1 week after the class. If not, we will discard it without prior notice. You may also opt to mail the artwork by post.
  • We highly recommend bringing it home when it is completely dry. However, if you would like to bring it home on the day, please allow at least 1 hour after artwork completion. It will be at your own risk, if you decide to bring your artwork home immediately.

7. What if I am absent for a class?
  • We provide up to 2 make-up classes and must be utilised within 1 week after the missed session, subject to availability. 

8. Am I allowed to stay back to continue after class?
  • We allow you to stay back up to an hour after class to continue your practice/artwork. However, it is subject to the availability of the space.
