Children are innately curious and creative. They feel most engaged when they are exposed to stimulating, multi-sensorial hands-on activities. As such, it is crucial to provide our children with an abundance of opportunities to support both their creativity and curiosity in their early years.
At ArtFlock, we advocate our Flock to kickstart their Art Education as young as 3 years old. At the tender age of 3, our Flock will be exposed to the different aspects of Art as they explore and manipulate the various media & techniques. Providing them with an abundance of opportunities also gives them an early start to developing & acquiring the finer Art Skills & Techniques later on in their Art Journey. |
ArtFlock engages in dynamic and open-minded approach towards learning art and emphasises on the process of making art.
We cultivate creative development practices in our art curriculum so as to bring out the creative independence in children. The entire process involves hands on activities for manipulation of artistic tools, discovery and problem solving. ArtFlock advocates the use of traditional medium and techniques as well as the integration of contemporary art methodologies into our curriculum. In each lesson, students will explore different themes and objectives. They are guided to explore their own ideas to produce artworks that are distinctive and personally meaningful. Students are taught how to use various tools and mediums such as pencils, charcoal, acrylic paint, watercolour, ink, pastels, and clay. They learn techniques such as drawing, sketching, shading, painting, sculpting, printmaking, and more. At times, students get to incorporate different tools, mediums, and techniques into one artwork to enhance their creative exploration. They will also consistently practice the application of basic elements and principles of art in their artworks, and learn the importance of incorporating them into artmaking. |
Here are some of the primary benefits for our students engaging in art with ArtFlock's guidance and approach:
Skill Development: Students develop a broader skill set as they practice and refine their art techniques, including the ability to manipulate different art mediums. Creative Independence: ArtFlock encourages self-expression and nurtures imaginative thinking through our lessons. It fosters innovative and original ideas where students get to independently produce art that is personally meaningful. Improved Motor Skills: ArtFlock believes in the importance of exposing students to mixed media where they engage in wide range of art activities like painting, drawing, and sculpting. This creates more opportunities for students to improve hand-eye coordination and help develop finer motor skills, especially in young children. Critical Thinking: Analyzing artworks and creating art can sharpen critical thinking skills as students evaluate and make choices in their artistic creation. It also hones problem solving skills as students practice thinking outside the box with ArtFlock's art processes and come up with creative solutions. Knowledge & Awareness: Art provides insights into various topics such as history, cultures, civilisations and artists' styles as we explore different themes in our lessons, fostering an appreciation for diversity and broadening one's perspective. Boosted Self-Esteem: Completing an artwork especially that is personally meaningful can give a sense of accomplishment and boost student's confidence. Increased Observation Skills: At ArtFlock, art activities such as painting and drawing often require keen observation, enhancing the learner's ability to notice subtle details in their subjects |
